Kanzashi is an oriental traditional hair ornament made of satin ribbons. Usually, kanzashis are made in the form of flowers. Kanzashi came to us not so long ago, but quickly gained popularity. And skilled needlewomen bring more and more new elements to the traditional decoration. This jewelry is suitable for both everyday and holiday wear.

It is very simple to make a kanzashi hairpin, it will be enough to learn the technique of making two main petals from satin ribbons. To make such a kanzashi hairpin, you will need:
  • Satin ribbon of green and white;
  • Scissors;
  • Crocodile hairpin;
  • Glue gun or any other silicone-based glue;
  • Candle and lighter;
  • Bead for the middle of the flower.

Cut seven squares of white ribbon and five green. Do not count on the eye, it is better to use a ruler and marker. Singe the edges of each square so that the fabric does not open and it is convenient to work with it.

We will form a round petal. Fold the white square in half diagonally. Bend two opposite corners to the middle. Fold the entire workpiece in half. You should get a round petal. Now it needs to be fixed in this position. Melt the edge of the fabric at the junction of the corners and press it with your fingers or tweezers. Trim the excess and also scorch the tape. The petal is ready.

Then, make a kanzashi sharp petal. Take the green square and fold a triangle out of it, as in the previous version.

Fold the triangle in half again, joining the opposite corners and forming a smaller triangle.

Fold in half the last time and lock the petal. Melt the edges of the tape and press it with your fingers, as shown in the photo.

All you need is three round and four sharp petals of white satin ribbon, and five sharp petals of green. Make sure that all petals are the same size. If you accidentally cut off from the petals more than necessary, then it is better to cut the same amount from the rest. Then the flower will look neater.

Glue the round white and green sharp petals as shown in the photo below. Leave a gap between the petals. If you use quick-drying glue, then the parts can be glued immediately to each other. But if the glue dries for a long time, it is better to fix the petals on the base. Cut a small circle from green felt, glue all the petals to it.

Make two blanks with green and white petals, and one with white. Glue them together.

In the place where there was a gap in the flower, glue a blank of six sharp petals. Attach the middle.

Glue the finished composition to the hairpin.

This hairpin is suitable for girls on a school matinee and girls for graduation. The hairpin itself can be decorated with stones and rhinestones, then it will look even more elegant.
