Not so long ago, LED matrices with built-in drivers right on the matrix itself began to appear on the Chinese market. This driver is designed for an alternating voltage of 220 V. In a nutshell, this is just an LED that is powered directly from the mains voltage without additional boxes and devices.
And the main plus is the low price - look at Ali Express.
The purchase cost less than 150 rubles. I took a 50 W LED matrix and a voltage of 220 V, which I actually needed. The brightness of this LED is quite comparable with a 500 W halogen lamp.
Conversion of the lamp into LED
He unscrewed the glass mounting screw, took out the glass with a rubber gasket. The plus of this lamp is that it is sealed.
And he began to think how to replace the lamp with an LED. The idea came by itself.
I unscrew the screw of the reflector-reflector. I take it off, it is made of thin aluminum, it bends very easily.
Then I unscrew the halogen llama mounting pad. I disconnect the power supply wires from the block.
I will mount the LED on the back wall - it fits perfectly, and the spotlight body will act as a radiator (it is made of duralumin), since the LED cannot be turned on without any heat sink. Although it has built-in protection against overheating, we will not test it.
I will not make a cutout in the reflector, but I will screw everything together with it. To do this, it is necessary that the reflector sits right on the body of the back wall of the lamp. Therefore, we mold the aluminum reflector with pliers. Periodically check that everything is sitting tight and good.
If everything sits well, take a screwdriver with a thin drill for metal and drill four holes for mounting the LED directly in place.
Then we take thermal paste and spread four surfaces: the back wall of the lamp, the back and front of the reflector and the seat of the LED matrix.
We will collect everything again and fix it with screws. You can also use screws with nuts, but I personally took small screws. It's okay if they stick out a little from behind - with a file I will fix it a bit later.
Everything, almost everything is ready for this. It remains only to solder the network wires to the matrix, put a rubber band with glass and close the lamp.
Everything works perfectly. It seems to me that it began to shine even brighter than it was, but it’s warming at times less, that's for sure.
The LED matrix is decoupled by voltage from the landing pad, and the network phase will not pass to the case. But it is better not to forget to tighten the ground wire to the housing.
I used such a converted spotlight for more than a month. In principle, there are no shortcomings, only advantages. Especially saving in rubles for electricity per person.
