The conductive windings of the electric motor are displayed in a junction box. The findings of the windings form two parallel rows, each with a marking from the letter C and numbers from 1 to 6. This is done in order to mark the beginning and end of all three windings.
The findings are connected quite difficult. This can be found with a simple tester. Calling the conclusions of the windings, we find that only two of them are connected on a large diagonal. The rest are connected along small diagonals.
Winding rings are necessary when using the old electric motor, in the new such work is unlikely to be required. After the test, the engine can be connected either according to the "star" scheme, or according to the "triangle" scheme.
Note: also used to connect electric motors with a power of more than 5 kW combined star-delta circuit.

Turn on star windings

The "star" scheme involves connecting the ends of the windings at one point, which is called the neutral, and applying a supply voltage to the beginning of each of the windings. The "triangle" circuit provides a series connection of the windings.

For star connection, two jumpers (three jumpers are included with the electric motor) are installed on the terminals in the same row. Then the jumpers are fixed with nuts. The wires from the three-phase network are connected to the three terminals of the second row.

Turning on the motor windings with a triangle

The "triangle" circuit is used to connect the electric motor to a single-phase 220 V network. Three terminals located opposite each other connect terminals. On one side, jumpers are fixed with nuts, on the opposite side we connect wires from the network, to the third - wires from the working capacitor (the capacitance must be calculated correctly).

Tip: when buying an electric motor, it is advisable to check the number of wires in the junction box. The presence of 6 wires to the contacts indicates the possibility of connecting the motor according to any scheme. Three wires mean that the contacts of the windings are already connected according to the "star" circuit and connecting to a single-phase network according to the "triangle" circuit is not possible. In this case, you have to open the engine and displays the missing ends. It will be difficult to do this.
Each connection scheme has its own characteristics. The electric motor, when connected according to the "star" scheme, works smoothly, however, it cannot develop the power indicated in the product certificate.
The "triangle" circuit allows the electric motor to reach maximum power, but to reduce the value of the arising inrush currents, it is necessary to use a starting rheostat.
