Experienced joiners know how important it is to keep an eye on the cutting edges of chisels and chisels. They stumble very quickly, and for correct sharpening it takes a lot of time. In addition, the formation of dents or other large mechanical damage on the edges makes the process much more difficult, and sometimes tools have to be thrown away. Among the many causes of damage to cutting edges is often called improper storage - tools are randomly thrown into a drawer. The problem is easily solved in a couple of minutes.

Necessary materials and tools

  • Fortsner drill with a diameter of 20 mm;
  • electric drill or drill press;
  • tape or any other saw;
  • tool for drawing lines at an angle (sliding bevel);
  • clamps (clamps);
  • measuring instruments;
  • strip of plywood 430 × 20 × 18 mm, whetstone 430 × 25 × 25 mm.

The proposed list can be adjusted depending on the availability of specific tools and materials. The size of the material must be selected taking into account the internal parameters of the box.

The process of making a comfortable stand

First, mark the holes on the stand. The distance between them is about 40 mm, the amount depends on the length. Stand height 20 mm, it is necessary to draw a cut line.

Drill semicircles in the marked spots. If the stand is made for chisels, then the diameter of the semicircle must be increased to 30 mm - these tools have a wider metal part. You do not need to increase the step, all the handles are the same size.

Saw a workpiece with a width of 20 mm. Adjust the length to the dimensions of the box. Try on a stand, roughly estimate the parameters of the bar for pens.

To do this, place the chisel on the stand and press it all the way to the plane of the cutouts. Measure the height to which the bottom of the handle has risen from the bottom of the box. In our case, the height of the stand is 25 mm; for its manufacture, use a bar with the same parameters.

There are boxes with a slope of the bottom. It is necessary to make sure that the stand does not rest on the edge, but on the entire plane. To do this, measure the slope and at the same angle saw off the bottom of the stands for the blades and handles.

It remains to fix the details in the box. To do this, they can be screwed with screws or put on glue.

Findings

Such supplies can be installed not only in drawers, but also on open shelves or in a convenient place on the desktop. Do not be too lazy to lose a few minutes, the result will very quickly justify the lost time.
