First you need to prepare the floor surface. This type of insulation can be used on any floor surface, regardless of the material (wood, concrete). In the example in the illustration, you can see the old surface of wooden boards. It is not necessary to dismantle the old surface if it is not rotten and is in good condition. During the preparatory work, it is necessary to dismantle the old baseboard.
If the surface is partially damaged, only these areas can be removed and replaced.
Next, you need to determine from which point in the room you will begin the installation. Try using the building or water level to identify the highest point from the edge, and start with it.
Ideally, the surface should be flat, or relatively flat, without too large differences. Therefore, if in your case the concrete screed is not even, it is better to level the surface first. In our example, wooden floors had an approximate level, so you could immediately get to work.
Laying foam with OSB sheets
The standard size of OSB sheets is 2500x1250 mm. Therefore, it is necessary to step back about 1240 mm from the edge of the wall, and screw to the floor a wooden block 20 - 25 mm thick, on which OSB will subsequently be laid. Also, a wooden block is mounted near the wall. Then with the help of mounting foam, the corners are smeared, and also the surface of the floor inside the bars where the foam will be laid.
It is best to use polyurethane foam with a special gun, as this is a more economical and convenient option. In this case, the foam does not dry out, and it can be used for several days, while ordinary cylinders must be used immediately after opening. After this, foam foam is laid on the foam.
You will also need a construction knife in order to trim the foam. Then it is necessary to smear again on top of the foam with mounting foam and lay the OSB sheet on top. In conclusion, the OSB sheets are screwed with screws to the wooden planks at the edges.
For the floor, it is necessary to use not a thin OSB, otherwise it will bend under heavy weight. The minimum OSB thickness should be 16 mm.
Another option for uneven floors
Another installation option is applicable if the floors are not even, because of which there is no way to fill the wooden bars, since they will also not be level. In this situation, you can wind the screws in a wooden floor, indented 10 - 15 cm in rows. However, the caps of the screws should be level. To do this, attach a building level to 1 row of screws, and make sure that it lies on all screws without gaps.
After all the screws are screwed on, the surface is smeared with mounting foam, on which foam sheets are laid.
After that, foam is also applied over the foam. Next, a sheet of OSB is laid, which is screwed with long screws to the floor. To trim the OSB you need a jigsaw.
For better waterproofing, fill all joints between the foam sheets and OSB sheets with mounting foam. The same must be done at the edges, between the wall and the OSB.
This option is an excellent way to warm the floors, as well as leveling them. After that, you can lay laminate or linoleum on the OSB.
