In this review, the author shows how, with your own hands and relatively inexpensively, you can turn an old Soviet-hardened table into a stylish coffee table in a modern manner.

The old Soviet table can be found in many houses and apartments. If you don’t have one available, you can search for ads - very often they are given away for free.

First of all, the table will need to be disassembled into its component parts. The surface of the countertops is removed from varnish.

Although it should be noted that this is a very difficult matter - one cannot do without a grinder.

On the table legs we remove the veneer and grind them to a “bare" array. Then we prepare all the details for further painting.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, we proceed to decorate the table tops. This will require a piece of non-woven wallpaper (paper for this will not work).

Using polyacrylic varnish, glue the wallpaper to the countertop.

After that, along the contour of the countertop we make a rim of masking tape, and fill it with epoxy resin, which must first be diluted with a hardener.

Leave to dry for 48 hours. The rest of the table can be painted white or any other color. The author covers the surface of the countertop with matte varnish. Then you need to collect everything.
