However, if you are engaged in blacksmithing, then this idea may interest you. In this review, we will briefly describe how a master makes a nail puller from a spring with his own hands.
An old car spring is used to make a homemade nail clipper. The diameter of the steel bar from which it is made is 16 mm.
The main stages of work
First of all, the author cuts the spring into separate pieces. From one such blank, one nail clipper will be obtained. Thus, one spring is enough to make a whole set of mounts.
Next, the author takes one of the cut blanks, heats it in the furnace, and then begins to level.
Then the bar will need to be trimmed already with a sledgehammer. Well, of course, an anvil is required. Nowhere without her. After alignment, a bar 59 cm long was obtained.
At the next stage, the master heats the end of the rod and slightly compresses it, striking the anvil. Then, using a forging hammer, it forms the “tip” of the desired shape.
Using a grinder with a cutting disc, the author makes a working groove at the end to grab and hold the nail head.
At the last stage, it remains only to make a bend at the end of the bar, like a nail puller, as well as a "blade" mount on the opposite side.
