The issue of organizing order in the workshop is always difficult. On open shelves, the equipment looks messy and dusty. And in cabinets and drawers we often look for the right tool for a long time.

The author shares the idea of how to combine the advantages of shelves and cabinets in the storage system. In a transparent small container, it is easy to find everything you need and gently push it back.

To begin with, you will need to purchase transparent containers made of thick plastic, closed with a lid.

Calculate their size so that the entire main tool fits along the length. Large equipment can be stored separately. Shelving partitions are easier to make from a thick sheet of plywood.

Cut blocks from plywood corresponding to the dimensions of the depth of the future rack. Measure the height of the side of the container to find out what size you need to make the grooves.

Now, according to the measurements, cut the grooves in the plywood. Leave enough thickness so that the board does not break under its own weight.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, check how far the boards should be placed so that the container can be freely inserted into the grooves. Between the partitions fasten another plywood with screws. So the design will accurately support the heavy weight of metal utensils.

Most conveniently, such an organizer would be located in a niche. You just need to attach partitions to it and, if necessary, trim the wall with plywood.

However, if there is no niche, this is not a problem. You can use an old cabinet without shelves or make a base yourself from boards.

Fix the resulting partitions with screws. You can align them simply by inserting containers as you work.

For added convenience, you can make a small department for small things. Cut the plastic molds for small containers and place them at an angle to the wall.

Show your imagination by thinking about the specifics of your work. It may be convenient to arrange hooks for brushes or attach magnetic tape to store hacksaws.

The work is over. It remains to fill the containers and place them in a way that is convenient for you. Such a storage system not only facilitates the search for the right tool, but also keeps the workshop clean.
