In this review, the master suggests making a convenient and practical folding hacksaw for wood with your own hands. This homemade tool is useful in the country, as well as on a hike or fishing.

For the manufacture of a folding metal frame for a hacksaw blade, a U-shaped profile with a cross section of 20x30 mm and 10x25 mm, as well as several bolts with nuts and a pair of bearings, are required.

From the main tool for work, you will need a grinding machine (you can use the grinder with a petal disk), a welding machine, an electric drill.

The main stages of work

To get started, cut a piece of profile 20x30 mm approximately equal to the length of the blade of the old hacksaw. The second profile should be half the length of the canvas, and the last piece should be one third shorter than the first profile.

We set the shape of a semicircle along the edges of the blanks from the profile. We cut the upper shelves from short segments and weld the restrictive plates to their edges. Next, you need to drill all the necessary holes. We weld two bearings against the holes to the second profile from the inside.

We assemble a small profile of 10x25 mm almost identically to the second profile, changing only the attachment structure of the canvas, having previously made recesses in the side shelves and two holes for fastening.

Assembly is made with very simple movements. We fasten the first and second segments of the profile to a long one. Next, we attach the canvas to the second profile and to the small one. Assembly completed.

The saw takes up very little space and fits on any shelf or in a bag. Moreover, a home-made hacksaw is quickly assembled, and itself is pulled due to the use of an eccentric tensioner on the small and second profile.
