If you often have to work with wooden workpieces in the home workshop or in the garage, then it’s difficult to do without joinery vice, which are attached directly to the workbench.

Using a clamping device for a workbench, various technological operations with wooden workpieces can be performed. And to make it quite simple. However, specifically in this case, the author used a non-standard approach.

First of all, the master prepares two wooden blocks of rectangular shape the same in length. After machining on a planer, he glues two pieces together.

The process of making a carpentry vise for a workbench

It is necessary to cut gears of the same size from plywood - the template itself can be downloaded without problems on the Internet. In total, five gears will be required: the two main ones are located on the sides, and the other three - in the middle of the movable sponge.

Two driving gears are connected to wooden bushings (the master machined them on a lathe), into which the lead screws are then inserted - they also serve as guides.

At the next stage of work, a fixed sponge (supporting part) of a joiner's vise is made, and the master modifies the movable sponge and installs a “clip” with gears in it. And then you can begin to mount the vise on a workbench.
