A manual clamp is a home-made device that is designed to tighten clamps made of aluminum, copper or steel wire of different diameters. The device is compact in size and fairly simple in design, so making it with your own hands will not be a problem.

For this homemade product you will need available materials:

  • piece of steel strip;
  • piece of pipe;
  • long hairpin;
  • two nuts with a washer.

With the help of wire clamps, you can quickly and reliably fix the water hoses to the fittings or, for example, the fuel hose to the car filter, as well as firmly fasten other parts and products to each other.

The main stages of work

From a steel strip using a grinder with a cutting disc, we cut out the main part for the manufacture of a clamp. It is a triangular wedge with a shank. We remove the burrs and make a small groove at the end of the wedge.

We weld a piece of pipe to the tail of the workpiece, one edge of which needs to be cut at an angle of 45 degrees. Then, one nut must be welded to the stud and placed in a pipe on which the washer is welded. A second nut is screwed onto the free end of the stud. In principle, a long bolt can be used instead of a stud.

It is very simple to work with such a tool - we put the ends of the wire into the clamp, and then use a wrench to twist the nut together with the stud (or bolt) clockwise, tightening the wire clamp. Next, you need to rotate the clamp by 160 degrees, bending the ends of the wire. Then it remains only to bite off the sticking ends of the wire with pliers.
