A distinctive feature of the hatchet is a wide blade and a more massive handle, making it more convenient to hold in your hand.

In this article we will tell you how to make a practical and easy-to-use kitchen hatchet with your own hands. First you need to draw a sketch of the future ax on paper. We arm ourselves with a pencil and fantasy, and get to work. If you can’t draw the contours evenly, then it’s easier to do this - download the template you like from the Internet and then print to the printer.

The main stages of work

We cut out the sketch of the kitchen hatchet and transfer it to the workpiece - in this case we will use the old large diameter saw blade. We outline the contours of our drawing, after which we carefully cut the hatchet with a grinder. We grind the resulting workpiece, removing bumps on the surface and giving it a finished shape.

We drill holes in the tail section for attaching a wooden handle and process them with a round file. Next, we form the slopes of the blade and sharpen the cutting edge, temper the steel in the standard way (heat and dip in oil), and then make a vacation. Grind the surface with fine sandpaper and polish.

At the last stage of work, we make a wooden handle from hardwood, fasten it to rivets and process it on a grinding machine. Cover with mineral oil. The result is a neat and very convenient kitchen hatchet with which you can chop bones and cut meat.
