Well, how can you do without a drill stand in a workshop? When you need to drill holes in parts as evenly and accurately as possible, it helps a lot.

A drill stand can be bought at any hardware store. But if you want to save, you can do it yourself.

First of all, we need a stand on which the drill will be mounted. Ideally, this should be a profiled pipe with thick walls.

If there is nothing suitable at hand, then we take two building corners of the desired length, and weld together.

The main stages of work

In the next step, you will need to make a carriage, which will move down and up the rack.

To do this, cut off four corners of equal length along the length, make markings and drill holes.

Next, cut four studs, screw on them three nuts, weld and then grind them. Then we put bearings on the nuts and fix with two nuts at the edges.

We fasten the resulting rollers to the corners cut off earlier. The result is two halves of the carriage.

From the pieces of the corner we weld a rectangular base, weld a stand to it, and put on the carriage on the stand.

We weld the mount for the electric drill to the carriage, and you will also need to make a lever to lower and raise the drill during operation.

At the last stage, it remains only to make a support table, which can be adjusted in height.
