If the brake shoe is already "bald" and does not cope with its task, do not rush to throw it into scrap metal. If desired, even the old brake pad can still be restored.

In this review, the author shows one of the ways how, in a garage, to rivet brake pads for an ATV or motorcycle.

Many use drum brake linings for this, but in this case this material is not the best option. On cars, perhaps, such overlays serve for a long time, but on ATVs they are erased quickly.

Therefore, the author offers an alternative option - use the lining of the clutch disc. Moreover, the disk must be brown.

The main stages of work

First of all, using a grinder (angle grinder), it is necessary to clean the surface of the brake pad. Also, it will be necessary to drill three through holes with a diameter of 4.8 mm in it.

Next, cut a piece of the desired size from the clutch disc and glue it to the surface of the brake pad. For this, the author uses two-component glue.

After the glue dries, we drill three holes in the pad, make a hole and insert aluminum rivets. You can use rivets for a rivet gun.

At the next stage, with the help of a dobnik with a rounded end, we heat the "heads" of the rivets, and on the other hand we flatten them with a hammer. We trim the pad in the form of a brake pad.
