A wooden hatchet is a classic, and it is obvious that nothing could be more convenient than such a pen. However, if you want to transform the ax beyond recognition, to make it original and unusual, then you need to move away from the standards.

For example, you can make an ax out of a thick steel chain, the links of which are rigidly connected by welding. Unusual? Still would! True, with such an ax you can’t really chop wood - it will be given into your hands. But friends will succeed.

To realize this venture, you will need to buy the cheapest ax. Or, as an option, you can use some old ax that lies idle. You will also need to find a thick chain - there is a lot of such goodness on the metal intake.

The main stages of work

First of all, the master cleans the ax with a grinder to a glossy "crust" of metal. If your ax is “fresh”, then you can skip this step.

At the next stage, it will be necessary to tighten the chain, using hooks attached to the edges of the table or workbench, and then weld the links together. The master cuts off the excess part of the chain with a grinder. A hook is welded to the bottom of the future hatchet.

Then the bar from the chain is welded to the ax, and the upper part of the eye is welded with a plate cut in the shape of the hole.

We recommend that you look in the video on the site, which shows in detail how to make an unusual hatchet for an ax from a thick steel chain with your own hands.
