Sometimes a screwdriver, tweezers or other tool that is used in a home workshop or garage can become very magnetized and attract various small things from the table. This tool is not very convenient to work with, so you need to demagnetize it.

For quick demagnetization (removal of residual magnetic field) from a hand tool, as well as drills on a drilling machine and an electric drill, you can use a simple device that is easy to make yourself.

A feature of this demagnetizer is that for its operation absolutely no electricity is required. And this significantly expands the scope of its use. To make a device for demagnetizing a tool with your own hands, you will need one neodymium magnet, which can be removed from the computer's hard drive.

The main stages of work

After the neodymium magnet was removed from the hard drive, it will be necessary to make a handle into which this magnet will be built. The most optimal material is fiberglass or acrylic plastic. Although for want of a better one you can use ordinary plywood.

Cut off a workpiece of suitable length for the manufacture of the handle, after which we make a recess for the neodymium magnet. To do this, you can use a drill or a drilling machine. We remove the sharp edges on the handle with a file, then we wind the nylon thread and process the winding with acrylic varnish.

You can watch the step-by-step process of manufacturing a simple device for demagnetizing a tool in the video on our website.
