A rake is an indispensable tool in a summer cottage. With their help, you can loosen the beds, remove fallen leaves, break up large lumps of soil, etc. In the hardware store you can buy a rake of a very different design.

However, not all options offered in the store are of good quality, and their cost is sometimes clearly overpriced. Therefore, in order not to buy a cat in a poke, it is sometimes easier to make a garden rake on your own. To do this, you can use improvised materials.

To make a simple rake for the garden and the garden yourself, you will need a piece of steel corner 35x35 mm and a small length of pipe. The length of the corner may be different, depending on what kind of work you will perform. The optimal size is 60-70 mm.

The main stages of work

Cut off a piece of the corner 35x35 mm of the desired length. After that, on one shelf of the corner we cut a strip 10-15 mm wide along the entire length. On the other shelf you need to cut two stripes, but along the edges. In the center you need to leave a small piece for mounting the holder.

At the next stage, we clean the surface of the corner from dirt and traces of rust with a cord brush for metal mounted on the grinder. The whole corner, in principle, can not be cleaned - just remove the rust in the place where a piece of steel pipe will be welded.

Then we cut the teeth for the rake about 7-8 cm long. We weld the holder first, and then the teeth. It is not necessary to make teeth from a strip of metal - you can use a steel round bar of a suitable diameter.
