As practice and experience shows, it is most convenient to clean the surface of a metal not manually using an electric tool, but on mini-machines that can be made independently from improvised materials. With this home-made device, you can quickly clean the surface of the metal from traces of corrosion or old paint.

Instead of an electric (mains or cordless) drill, you can also use a screwdriver, but in this case the power of the machine will be less - however, the process of cleaning pipes and rods of round cross section from rust will take much less time. The advantage of this homemade product is its compactness and simplicity.

How to make a cleaning mini-machine

First of all, cut a small piece of 12 cm long from a pipe with a diameter of 89 mm using a grinder. In the resulting workpiece, cut out a “window” of a square shape, 1-2 cm from the edge and pre-marking with a marker or chalk. With a flat file we remove the burrs in the place of the cut.

At the next stage, we take a piece of a channel of suitable sizes and make a longitudinal cut on the back wall (sole) of the grinder with a width of about 1 cm. Then, we need to weld a piece of a corner to the channel. A steel pipe with a “window” is fastened on top of the corner by welding. An improvised stand for an electric drill or screwdriver is installed on the channel base.

Now the home-made cleaning tool is ready to go. Please note that with this homemade product you can clean the surface of only round parts - steel pipes, rods, fittings, etc. See the video on the site for the assembly process of the stripping mini-machine.
