The famous Kratos ax from the God of War computer game looks very unusual and powerful. And many have a reasonable question: “Can I make it with my own hands?” You can, but you have to try. As a basis we will use a heavy steel plate 26 mm thick. Since it will be difficult to work with such a material with an ordinary grinder, it is better not to bother and immediately cut the ax contour on a CNC plasma machine.
However, you still can’t do without a grinder, since it is necessary to make the rails of the blade. Given the thickness of the metal, this will not be easy. For reference, you need to tilt the middle of the workpiece thickness. Then, setting the abrasive-grinding wheel on the grinder, you can begin to make descents, as if sharpening an ax. It is advisable to outline a line to which metal will grind. When the descent of the blade is ready, you can proceed to the next stage of work.
Making an eye for the ax of Kratos
Since the blank for the ax is cut from a single piece of metal, it does not have an eye for fixing the ax. Therefore, it will be necessary to make the eye separately and, given the large dimensions of the ax, for this it is better to use a massive thick-walled pipe so that everything looks harmonious. We cut off a segment of a suitable length by the grinder, flatten it, and then we make markup for overhead parts.
At the next stage, we weld the eye to the ax, having previously cut it into two parts. Then we grind the metal surface and proceed to the manufacture of linings, which are adjusted to the attachment points in the eye and, after decorative processing, are joined end-to-end with the eye.
