Homemade Mini Glider Ideas

The most primitive model of a home-made mini-glider is a paper "airplane", which is usually made from a notebook sheet (less often - from a newspaper). That's just the range and flight time of this "toy" leaves much to be desired.

If you want to make a mini glider that really will fly, we offer you some interesting ideas from improvised materials. The use of a wooden frame is necessary, since the structure must be strong, if you do not want it to fall into its components when it collides with the ground.

Option 1

First we make the fuselage of wood. Then, from rectangular foam containers for food (or, for example, ceiling tiles), we cut rectangular blanks, from which two wings are glued together with adhesive tape. We draw the contours of the wing and cut off the excess parts with scissors.

Next, we make the tail of two horizontal stabilizers. To the front of the fuselage of the mini-glider we fasten the weighting compound from the bits for a screwdriver. We glue all the elements, and the model is completely ready for flying "walks" on the street.

Option 2

In terms of design, this model is a bit more complicated, however, in comparison with the previous version, it plans such a "plane" much better. A small propeller consisting of two blades is attached to the rear of the fuselage.

Then the wooden frame of the wings is assembled, on which double-sided tape is glued, and a dense film is attached on top. We make horizontal and vertical stabilizers from the foam in the rear and front of the fuselage.

Also at home you can make a mini glider "Batman", a bird-shaped airplane - with curved wings, and a glider with rounded wings. A detailed assembly process for all models, see the video on the site.
