If the computer’s magnetic hard drive fails, but the engine is operational, don’t throw it away - after a little refinement, it will make a compact grinding and grinding machine that can be used even in a house or apartment (for example, on a balcony).

The principle of operation of this device is very simple. Emery paper sticks to the surface of the disc, and the native motor acts as a drive. However, for the full-fledged operation of a home-made machine, you only have to purchase a chip with a controller. It costs about two dollars.

If you come across an HDD with two disks, then the top one will need to be removed. Please note that three wires are connected to the engine, and two to the power source, which can be used as a standard adapter for 12 V and 1.25 A (for example, from a printer or other device).

The main stages of work

After connecting the control board to the engine, we attach it to the hard drive case using small screws. Separately, you need to fix the socket for connecting the power supply. On the lid of the device we install legs made of rubber "linings" - for this you can use caps from medical preparations, and we attach them as a stand.

Please note that in the cover you must first drill a hole for the speed control located on the control board. Rubber feet will prevent the casing from slipping during grinding and grinding work.

If necessary, you can provide additional mounting to the table. At the last stage, we cut the sandpaper in the shape of a disk, and then glue it with double-sided tape or hot melt adhesive. Homemade grinder from a hard drive can be used to sharpen kitchen knives and small drills, as well as for grinding small parts.
