The surface of the headlights of modern cars from the factory is covered with a protective layer of varnish. When operating on a transparent surface, chips and opacities from permanent sinks appear. The coating burns out, scratches, that is, loses its original appearance.

At each polishing, the varnish layer becomes thinner, processing with abrasive materials accelerates this process. When plastic begins to emerge, polishing does not give the desired result, stains remain and the remaining coating must be completely removed.
Many car owners are faced with the problem of constantly dimming headlights, when polishing lasts for two to three months and the optics again lose transparency - this is a sign that the bare plastic is polished, which does not have such hardness as varnish, so it quickly rinses.
Consider two options for self-restoration of transparency of optics.

Abrasive polishing

1. Wash and glue with masking tape the surface adjacent to the optics.
2. We wash the varnish with moisture-resistant sandpaper (grain size no more than P1500).
3. After drying with a polishing machine and abrasive polish (for example, for 3M it is polish No. 17), we bring the surface to a transparent state.
4. Well wash the body from the remnants of the paste.

Varnish

This operation can be performed both with the headlight removed and standing on the car, in the second case, carefully glue everything that should not be touched around.

1. Matting the surface with sandpaper grit P1000.
2. The dried plastic is degreased.
3. Varnish in two layers.
Intermediate drying between layers 10-20 minutes at a temperature of 20 ° C. The first layer of varnish, the so-called "reinforcing" does not need to be applied in a continuous layer immediately making a lens, for this you need a second layer. Recommended varnish in Motip aerosol cans 350-600 rubles.
